Experience: Desmond High is a Chartered Accountant with over 40 years of experience across corporate finance, commercial management and strategic advisory. His career includes senior roles in accountancy and consultancy, beginning with Ernst & Whinney and progressing into leadership positions delivering interim management and financial consultancy across multiple sectors. He spent nearly three decades providing strategic advisory services and, most recently at STR Group, operated as Interim CFO from 2018, bringing financial oversight and governance expertise to support business stability and growth.
Leadership: Desmond chairs STR’s Shareholder Advisory Board, overseeing governance, risk and strategic direction across the Group. His leadership focuses on providing independent counsel to senior stakeholders, strengthening financial controls and supporting long-term decision-making. With extensive board-level experience, he plays a key role in guiding organisational strategy and ensuring robust governance frameworks that enable sustainable business performance.
