The STR Group is proud to continue to support Macmillan Cancer Support this year as we hosted our 9th Macmillan Coffee Morning. Last year, this international event raised over £18million for the charity, which supports those living with cancer.
The first Coffee Morning took place in 1990, beginning as a small gathering with a straightforward idea: guests would come together over coffee and donate the cost of their drinks to Macmillan. Its success led to a repeat event the following year, but this time on a national scale. Since then, in addition to traditional Coffee Mornings, creative variations have emerged across the globe, including kitchen discos, chai afternoon teas, and cake baking sessions.
This morning, Friday 27th September, the entire STR Group came together with home-made and shopped-bought bakes and treats. Some pitched in with sweet or savoury snacks, while some simply donated and snacked! Whatever the particular contribution, we really appreciate everyone’s time and generosity. This year we’re pleased to announce we’re aiming to raise £250 for the charity, with over £200 collected so far and still counting!
Macmillan Cancer Support relies on voluntary donations for 98% of its funding, so every penny counts, and these efforts help those diagnosed with cancer and their families navigate their journey, from the moment of diagnosis, through treatment, and beyond.
